Cottage Cheese Bagels

Whip up soft, chewy homemade bagels in under 30 minutes. This easy, high-protein bagel recipe features Good Culture Cottage Cheese for extra protein and a tender crumb. Top with your favorite bagel seasoning and a generous spread of Good Culture Cream Cheese.

Serving size 4-6

Ingredients:

2 ½ cup of all-purpose flour (300 grams) + extra for rolling

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups of Simply 2% Good Culture Cottage Cheese (440 grams)

½ cup of egg or egg white, beaten

Seasonings: poppy seeds, sesame seeds, everything bagel seasoning, onion, garlic etc.

Good Culture’s Probiotic Cream Cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a half sheet baking pan with parchment and set aside.
  2. Add all dry ingredients into an extra-large bowl and whisk till combined.
  3. Blitz the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  4. Fold in the blended cottage cheese into the flour mixture with a rubber spatula.
  5. Once the dough starts to come together, use your hands to knead the dough until it becomes a ball.
  6. Cut the dough into four sections using a bench scraper.
  7. Shape each dough piece into a round ball and gently press your thumbs in the center to form a bagel. If needed dust the dough with a little more flour if sticky. Once shaped place on the parchment. Repeat to all pieces of dough.
  8. Brush each bagel with egg wash. Try to get the bottoms as well to ensure they brown too.
  9. Coat each bagel in your desired seasoning until generously coated.
  10. Place the bagels pack onto the parchment and let them bake for about 20 minutes or just until golden brown and crisp.
  11. Let the bagels cool, then slice and smear with Good Culture Probiotic Cream Cheese
