Farm & Process related inquiries

We produce on family farms in the Midwest & the Pacific Midwest– Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oregon, Illinois, Iowa, California, & New York.

Our cows eat grass most of the year (approx. 80%). In the winter months, when frost/snow, etc. covers the ground, they are given a supplemental feed. Therefore, they are grass fed but not grass finished.

Our Organic line is pasture raised & follows USDA Organic standards.

Our Simply milk supply is sourced from a network of independent family farms, many of them with pasture-raised animals*. As a Certified B Corporation and 1% for the Planet partner, we are committed to transitioning conventional family farms in our network to regenerative agricultural practices with a focus on pasture-based farming. Through our Path to Pasture program, we are pushing hard to ensure 100% of our milk comes from family farms that are committed to pasture-raised animals and soil health. All of our family farms adhere to measurable, verified requirements of animal care and well-being, environmental and land stewardship, and milk quality. Helping to elevate the industry’s standards is at the heart of what we do.

Other Questions

Unfortunately, cottage cheese doesn’t freeze very well. During the freezing process, the texture and flavor will be compromised, due to its liquid content. Having said that, freezing will be ok if you are looking to use it in cooked dishes like lasagna, casseroles, soups, cakes and sauces.

Our product is freshest through the date on the lid. Since we don’t use the same chemical preservatives, stabilizers, thickeners, etc. that most other brands use, we always recommend consuming our product during this period.

Having said that, it often stays good past the date. You can always do a sensory test. If it smells, looks, and tastes good, you are good.
