French Onion Dip

Homemade French Onion Dip made from scratch with sweet, jammy caramelized onions and ultra-creamy Good Culture Sour Cream. This easy caramelized onion dip comes together in about 30 minutes, no soup mix needed, and tastes even better after a short chill. Perfect for parties, game day, and the holidays!

Ingredients:

  • 1  large yellow onion, small dice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½  tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, for caramelizing)
  • 1 cup Good Culture Sour Cream
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1–2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1–2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Extra salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and salt; cook slowly, stirring often, until deep golden and jammy — about 20–25 minutes. Add sugar if needed to help them brown.
  3. Let cool slightly.In a bowl, combine: Good Culture sour cream, dijon mustard, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  4. Stir in chopped chives.Serve with bagel chips or toasted baguette slices.
