Homemade French Onion Dip made from scratch with sweet, jammy caramelized onions and ultra-creamy Good Culture Sour Cream. This easy caramelized onion dip comes together in about 30 minutes, no soup mix needed, and tastes even better after a short chill. Perfect for parties, game day, and the holidays!
Ingredients:
- 1 large yellow onion, small dice
- 1 tbsp butter
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp sugar (optional, for caramelizing)
- 1 cup Good Culture Sour Cream
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1–2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1–2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Extra salt, to taste
Instructions:
- Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and salt; cook slowly, stirring often, until deep golden and jammy — about 20–25 minutes. Add sugar if needed to help them brown.
- Let cool slightly.In a bowl, combine: Good Culture sour cream, dijon mustard, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Stir in chopped chives.Serve with bagel chips or toasted baguette slices.
